Advocating For Students And Educators

My education law experience is honed by having represented students at the University of Michigan’s Student Legal Services, and having served for six years on the Ann Arbor School Board. I have represented students from K-12 through college and graduate programs regarding discrimination, retaliation, First Amendment violations, or having been victimized by sexual assault, harassment, physical assault, or bullying. I have also represented professional educators, from teachers to school superintendents, in dismissals and contract disputes, with successful results in trial, arbitration, and tenure hearings.

Protecting Your Educational Rights

Education law covers a broad range of issues that can impact students at all levels, from K-12 to universities. As the founding attorney at Roumel Law, I handle various education law matters. I represent students facing expulsion or suspension, navigate “Code of Conduct” violations and student judiciary proceedings and provide legal support in cases of academic misconduct like plagiarism or cheating.

Advocacy In Educational Rights

My firm advocates for students’ rights in cases involving bullying, school violence, educational discrimination and issues related to Title IX and sexual assault. While we handle a range of education-related disability rights matters, including seclusion, restraint, and discrimination, we do not handle special education disputes such as Individual Education Plans and special education appeals.

Experienced Guidance, Compassionate Support

With over 30 years of experience, my firm understands the nuances of education law in Michigan. I approach each case with a deep sense of empathy and commitment, ensuring that every student’s educational journey is safeguarded.
